All existence requires balance, and there were those who sought to weave doubt and fear into reality, undoing the acts of Suriel.
Suriel existed beyond fear, allowing all to happen without force or will. As an angel of the cosmic, she assisted in shaping reality with no effort or doubt. She could perceive neither good nor bad, only action and reaction. Humanity often learned patience, and equanimity from the lore of Suriel. Balance and harmony followed her name, and one could often sense her presence in solitude.

TO BE BEYOND FEAR
IS TO ACCEPT THE UNKNOWN.
Beyond
Through malice and conniving the forces of evil sowed these seeds of doubt and fear among humanity. They sought to undo the effects of Suriel. As the tide of evil grew great, Suriel was captured by humanity and the fear that drove them. They intended not to break her, but to somehow quench their envy of her ability to live free of fear.
Her will resisted, but she eventually succumbed to sorrow and pain. She began to doubt her reality and fear her captors. That fear turned to anger, resentment, and aggression.
She eventually escaped her captors as they no longer recognized her and she passed beyond them as a loathful spirit. She exists in a place beyond now among the crows of misfortune. It is where she scours the souls of humanity searching for the answer to be free as she once was.
Though in her search she spreads the doubt and fear she wishes release from, leaving some men mere zombies in search of their own salvation.
Yet some of humanity still recalls the stories of Suriel. Brave soldiers travel to the ends of the world searching for the gateways beyond, battling unheard of monsters, and pushing themselves to the very brink of existence to free her and restore the balance so that humanity might find a place beyond fear once more.
